Adaptation & Modification
Fair isn't everybody getting the same thing. Fair is... everybody getting what they need to be successful.
Adaptation
In my classroom, students are given the necessary tools and strategies to help them succeed. I have learned that there is not one tool to help every student; rather they are individualized and cater to a students specific need. Throughout my various teaching experiences, I have discovered various tools and strategies that I have found are successful for my students. These tools can enhance how the student learns following an adapted plan.

Different writing tools/ mini whiteboards
Additional instruction
Visual support cards

Communicate orally /share ideas orally

One on one support

Technological support

Additional time

Flexible seating
Modification
Students on a modified plan have adjustments made to what they are learning. The modifications change the expectations pertaining to grade level as students are learning at their own pace. If a student displays difficulty within an area, rather than move on with his or her peers, they may continue to work on the skill they have not yet mastered. The modifications are specifically directed towards the learning goals outlined in the students IEP.

Individualized Education Plan
As an educator, it was important for me to understand the process of an IEP and well as knowing what it consists of. The information in a student's individualized education plan provides a deeper understanding of the students strengths and challenges. It indicates how we as teachers plan to help our students improve and build their skills. Students will be provided with various support and services in order to facilitate their learning and direct them towards their learning goals.
Lesson Plan
Please find attached an example of a differentiated, adapted, and modified lesson plan that I have created throughout my field experience.
