Management Strategies
Flexible Seating
Modelling is an effective strategy to demonstrate to the students what is expected in order to help them successfully accomplish their task.
Visual aids are an effective way to manage the class as a whole. Having visual aids and tools that students can clearly see permits them to know what is expected and is beneficial for their learning experience as a whole.
Flexible seating is one of the most important aspects in my classroom. Giving students the choice of where they would like to work allows them to feel in control over their environment. It allows students to feel comfortable while aiding with sensory input. Flexible seating also makes learning fun.
Giving students feedback is a great management strategy as it allows students to understand what is expected. When feedback is meaningful it can significantly impact students motivation and learning outcome.
To help students self-correct their behaviour, improve focus, and actively engage in their work, I will use proximity control. By using non-verbal cues, staying on my feet, being close by and available, the proximity helps redirect students and reinforces the expected behaviours.
"Students learn far more from being shown how to behave appropriately than from being punished."

Transitions
Noise Level
To manage noise level, I have found various strategies that are effective within my teaching. I have found that students particularly respond well to clapping while counting to five. As well I have found that turning off the lights is also effective when getting students attention.
To ensure effective transitions, I gain the students attention, explain the next activity or lesson, give them the cue to begin the transition, and I then initiate the transition. A method I have found successful is counting to ten. It allows students to transition quietly and smoothly.

Positive reinforcement is a strategy that I like to use to reinforce appropriate behaviours. By fortifying the expected behaviours, students are likely to continue displaying positive behaviours.

BReathing Breaks
Non-Verbal communication
When completing an activity, I use wait time in order to give students the chance to think and respond. I also use wait time as a method ensuring that all of my students are paying attention and are ready to learn. When I notice that students are talking out of turn, I wait until I have everyones attention. I simply say "I will wait until everyone is ready."
Students are sitting for a significant amount of time in their day. Therefore, I believe having brain breaks and breathing breaks is essential. It gives students the opportunity to get up, move and practice deep breathing. This in turn helps them regain focus as they have had a moment to step away from their work.
Non-verbal communication has positive and profound effects with regard to student responses. The way body language is used in the classroom is crucial and impactful. Students are capable of reading body language. I have found that waiting, pointing to the board, clapping, starring at the clock and nodding/shrugging are all effective forms of non-verbal communication

Expectations
To have successful classroom management and help my students succeed, I will establish clear expectations. It is important for me to develop learning goals with my students so they are at the centre of their learning. When students are aware of the expectations, they can then take responsibility for their own learning.

I strongly believe that celebrating student achievements goes hand in hand with effective classroom management. It is so important to acknowledge student achievements no matter how little or big they may be. It allows the student to feel as though he or she is successful and reinforces positive/ expected behaviours. I personally find displaying students work and shining light on the students work is a beneficial way of recognizing their effort. I also believe that having certificates of achievement can also positively impact the student.
