Formative Assessment

"Everyone is a genius. But is you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will love its whole life believing it is stupid."- Albert Einstein
Formative assessment are a key component to helping students develop their knowledge and skills. As a teacher, I recognize that there is not a 'one size fits all' model. Therefore, it is my duty do develop various methods in order to assess my students. The different methods that I use will allow me to conduct assessments and evaluations that is an ongoing process to see my students comprehension, their learning needs, as well as how they progress academically throughout the course of a lesson or unit.

The variety of formative assessment that I will include will allow me to identify the notions in which students are finding difficult, where their skills are not fully developed, as well as at what level their learning is at during that given time. It will allow me to see what children have and have not yet achieved, in turn allowing me to make the appropriate adjustments to help them get to where they need to be.

I want to collect information about my students academic needs in order to improve the way in which I deliver my instructions as well as improve student learning in each situation.
