Why Differentiation & Inclusion?
Children want the same things we want. To laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained, and delighted. ~ Dr. Seuss
Differentiated instruction is a vital component in my classroom. Tailoring my instructions to meet the individual needs of my students is important to me. I will ensure that the content, process, materials, and the learning environment target the individual needs in my classroom.
"Inclusion is a mindset. It is a way of thinking. It is not a program that we run or a classroom in our school or a favour we do for someone. Inclusion is who we are. It is who we must strive to be."
- Lisa Friedman

Classroom Climate
Communication
Adaptation & Modification

It is my responsibility to ensure that the mood, attitudes, standards, and tone are always positive within my classroom environment. It is my goal to promote a classroom climate where students feel safe, respected, welcomed, and supported throughout their learning journey.
Communication is an important factor to guarantee success for all students. As a teacher, I believe it is important to communicate with members of my teaching team, students, and parents in order to help students achieve to their full potential. With appropriate contact, it allows me to take the necessary steps towards helping my students.
I believe that adapting or modifying the curriculum is beneficial to help a student in need. Knowing that one size does not fit all, some students may need additional support or accommodations to learn to the best of their ability. Providing students with the needed support not only encourages them but allows them to be successful as well.
"It is my job to help all my students belong...This means part of my job is to educate the wider community about the needs of a child who may be perceived as 'different' to help them become embraced as part of the community" - Gayle Hernandez
