My vision for teaching

Mathematics is not about numbers, equations, computations, or algorithms: it is about understanding.
- William Paul Thurston
While I want to create a classroom climate that fosters a love for learning math, I want to also design my Math lessons around high cognitive demand tasks in order to stimulate and challenge my students' learning. I want my students math experience to be enjoyable, have a purpose and be relatable. To do so and as seen in the video, I will be sure to so create lessons that are hands on in order to encourage learning, application and development rather than simply retaining information for a test or brief period. Below, you will find various criteria for high cognitive demand tasks that I will implement within my teaching.
